Melanie Klapstock, RMT

Melanie Klapstock is a graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, New Westminster & has been a member in good standing with the College of Massage Therapy since 1996. As well as being a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), she is the Aquatic Program Coordinator for Simon Fraser University (SFU).

With over a decade of experience as an RMT, she has treated a variety of patients from newborn infants to palliative care patients, but she has a special interest in athletes. Melanie has worked with a multitude of high level athletes by incorporating a massage therapy treatment plan into the athlete’s training regime (one patient completed the illustrious 100 mile Western States Ultramarathon). Not only has she helped to facilitate the athletes’ training, but she has also attended many prestigious events to treat her athletes (such as traveling to Kona, Hawaii for the World Championship Ironman, Las Vegas with the SFU Varsity Swim Team, as well as local semi-professional cyclists).

Melanie has also participated in many esteemed athletic events, including Ironman Canada twice, Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in San Francisco, as well as numerous triathlons & marathons. She has recently completed the Ride to Conquer Cancer from Vancouver to Seattle, where her team (The Brine Brigade) raised over $135,000 for cancer research. Melanie’s future goals include amalgamating her passion of travelling with the enthusiasm of triathlons.

A zeal for sports and Massage Therapy is evident in her practice & she believes that activity should play a vital part of every persons’ wellness model. Any activity, including gardening, walking & yoga will benefit her clients. Melanie promotes the philosophy of balancing work, play & family.
