Branka Djukic has a BA in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia In Vancouver. She completed an honor thesis about the traumatic experiences of people who lived through war, exile and resettlement. Additionally, Branka is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), which is an integrated psychotherapy approach for treatment of trauma and many other mental health problems. Branka has also attended numerous professional workshops and seminars to continue her professional development. She is a certified CVAP (Crime Victim Assistance Program) service provider.
Branka’s work experience in counselling include caringly helping people overcome symptoms of post traumatic stress, whether from a single traumatic event like a traffic accident or a single assault or from more complex trauma resulting from specific lived experiences like repeated childhood abuse or neglect , or any type of ongoing emotional, physical or sexual abuse. In addition to this, Branka has also enjoyed working with people to help them improve their self-esteem, their relationships, overcome anxiety, panic and depression, emotional eating issues, to help them with life transitions and personal growth, to help them become more assertive and have better boundaries in relationships and to heal from grief and loss in their lives.
Branka is also a passionate group facilitator. Over the years, she has developed and facilitated different groups. The most recent one is “Ending the Tug of War with Anxiety” that she currently offers.
Beside EMDR (when it fits clients’ needs), Branka likes to incorporate body work, mindfulness, art, Gestalt techniques, and aspects of emotion-focused and CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) depending on what her clients’ needs are.
